GYM Grooming
Gentlemen's Youth Maintenance (GYM) started in 2003 as an idea of Chris Campbell. As a makeup artist, hairstylist, and esthetician based in Hollywood, CA. Chris couldn't find an all-encompassing, complete Men's line that covered haircare, skincare, and bodycare. Frequently, Chris' male clients were unknowledgeable about what kind of product to use to meet their grooming needs, and when asked to suggest a line, he couldn't. Some product lines managed to cover one, or possibly two of these areas reasonably well, but not all three. Clashing fragrances and products that just didn't work well together was a major issue. And coming from a professional background, Chris hated that drug stores, department stores, and grocery stores seemed to have more choices for men than Salons, where the trained professionals were.
Chris then began developing GYM Grooming based on the following:
Duty Not Beauty
It isn't about using reworked women's products (no offense ladies!). It isn't about being model pretty-boys.
It is about:
- avoiding problems by simple maintenance.
- respecting yourself enough to take care of yourself
- respecting the others in your life to try to look your best
- understanding the reality that your appearance can directly affect your personal, professional, and social life.
Think Don't Stink
Knowing that there is a difference between smelling like a guy and being offensive can be key to your image. GYM Grooming haircare and bodycare products, if fragranced, are done so with a light fragrance, developed to quickly fade after use. GYM Grooming skincare products contain no fragrance, but do contain an essential oil blend designed to work synergistically with the fragrance in the haircare and bodycare.
One Stop Shop
Okay, you have to get your haircare at the Salon, but your skincare comes from the drug store, and then you have to stop by the fragrance counter to get your favorite cologne, and then there's the grocery store to pick up some body wash. But how do you know if you are using what you SHOULD be using? Sure, the Salon staff knows what they are talking about, but what about at the drug store? Do they know if this or that face moisturizer is any good? Does the person working the register at the grocery store know that the body wash you are buying is only a half a step better than the stuff you buy to wash your pets? Chances are, they don't. The licensed Cosmetologist that you trust with your hair went to school for a long time to be able to help you with these answers. Get a professional to give you an educated answer. You wouldn't expect an untrained stranger to tell you how to work your computer, or what's up with that weird sound your car's making, Right?
GYM Grooming has been developed to make a man's life easier, simpler, and maybe, a little better. If you get the connection between how people perceive you and what you get in life, get GYM Grooming. |
